LISTENING TO THE UNKNOWN
I speak to you from within, to the inner ear of your being. Please listen. The world is as it is, pleasure-pain, joy-misery, war-peace and forever so. But you are not the world. You are life eternal, all of it, that was, that is and that ever can be. This is the absolute truth. But I beg you not to believe me, for I might be just another echo resounding from the world of opposites appearing existentially about you. The truth is in your direct experience. Be true to that. I am your existential mirror.
There is a universal intelligence within all life on this planet. Even knowing this logically, scientifically and spiritually, we each put our spin on it according to our lights, which goes on being the perpetual cause of all unnatural disturbances on the planet. I spent many years living and working in the Middle East, but more importantly, in attentive observation of human interaction in this complex region. I have seen how big nations can be absorbed in their fight against terrorism and how the disease of terrorism can transcribe into the ones opposing it. There can be no end to terrorism while the world remains trapped in the thought that the world can eliminate it by destroying the people through which it appears to arise.
There is no real release without first enlivening our deeper, cosmic awareness to the frontal lobes of the brain. We need to enliven the mind beyond the limitations of its existential world, beyond the narrow confines of our thought patterns repetitive programs. We need to first see our self-imposed limitations before these limitations can be transcended. This lack of truly seeing our condition is what seems to have been left behind in the evolution of human consciousness.
Technology with all its wonders has delivered extraordinary advances and this is indeed good, particularly in the field of medicine for eliminating unnecessary suffering. But technological wonders have also caused us distraction, to lose sight of who we are, why we are here on this planet and how we come to be here in the first place.
In your direct experience, life begins and ends in you. This is a fact. Life begins and ends in this moment now. There is no life other than life now that you experience through your body. As a corollary to this, it can be correctly ascertained that the beginning is perpetually now. There was no Big Bang, nor was there some creator back in the past. All these assumptions arise from the mind which is always a split second behind the immediacy of now. The mind is past; therefore, the world, a projection of the mind, must also be past. Even the future it projects comes out of the past in its need for re-creating more of itself.
The scientists fail to grasp this while making their assumptions on time being linear. The statement I herein make is that time is a circular projection perpetually arising from the now. In this immeasurable now, all time, past, present and future projects outward, in the slow movement of the mind seen as yesterday, today and tomorrow, last year, last century, last millennium. Looking out towards space it is seen as the spiraling stars. The mind functions within the paradigms of what it sees, and from here arises all our assumptions, beliefs and hopes for a better tomorrow. It imagines some life hereafter driving us deeper into the projection even to the point of solidifying into prehistoric rock.
The next statement I make is that your body is a spacesuit made by the projector from the exact same ingredients as the cosmic orb it inhabits. This cosmic orb is the planet earth, the accumulative energy of all life organisms perceived by evolving consciousness as past, present and future vibrating as cosmic oneness in the now. In other words, you and I are the universal intelligence suitably attired enjoying our presence on this planet. We lose insight of this when we become attached to our spacesuits through the thinking mind.
Knowing that the body must inevitably decay and disappear, we project the notion of a soul that will somehow evade the inevitable, this being the mass hypnosis of the world. Taking an example from the mental level looking out the projector, it was not that long past when the mind thought the earth was flat. Then one man got the idea, but the hypnotic masses strongly rejected, more time is always needed by the creators of time. When looking at this without movement of mind, it can be seen that everything is perceived and understood according to one’s lights. As a corollary in accordance with universal law, the mind-world projecting space and time determines that nothing can happen before its time.
This knowledge is within everyone and everything taking life form on this planet. You and I are the universal, the great vastness beyond limit. However, the void between the unknown and the mind can only be bridged when the inner ear opens. When freeing oneself from the false securities of the known, only then can the unknown resonate in one's being. This is your light, your freedom, in the timeless now.
My original manuscripts were submitted to many publishers in 1997, the themes of which subsequently appeared in the publications of others, such being the ways of the world. Words can be easily stolen. The vitality cannot. The authentic first and second editions of LISTENING TO THE UNKNOWN were published in 1999. It was re-edited in 2011 and re-presented via Amazon's CreateSpace Publishing under the new title BEING IN THE NOW
